Welcome! My name is Janine and I am a 4th year, 20-something, Accounting major at the Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta. I have been in numerous faculties during my time at the U of A (Engineering and Sciences to name a few). I am currently employed with a large accounting firm in downtown Edmonton and have been since January of 2012. Taking these past 6 months off school to work in the industry has been a great experience, and has taught me many necessary skills I hope to apply when I go back to school in the fall.
Since being employed I have been able to get involved with numerous community events my firm sponsors. I had the privilege of organizing our Office’s Free the Children Campaign which ending up raising over $300 in loose change. This was all to sponsor Spencer West, whom has had his legs amputated, climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. I have also organized our office’s World Partnership Walk in June of 2012 which raised $3000 to help abolish poverty.
Blogging is one of my favorite extracurricular activities. I enjoy sitting down and writing about my experiences and what life has brought me. Blogging for me is an attempt to chronicle exactly what is happening in my life. Between work, yoga, teaching, traveling, and enjoying time with my friends, I somehow manage to squeeze blogging in. You can check out my personal blog My Pennies, My Thoughts; where I focus mainly on Personal Finance (another passion of mine). Or you can follow me on Twitter!
I’m so excited to be blogging for the U of A! Can’t wait for you all to read my posts!
